Case Study – Marine Polar Code Storage Boxes

The requirements of The World, Residence at Sea, required specific storage units to the gear required for each location on each deck. Thus, 20 different boxes were fabricated, each with exacting size for the location and an overarching theme that best fit the gear situated in them. Over the course of months, the perfect design was hammered out with the extensive team members and crew involved in the future use of the storage units. Quick removal lids were designed, along with locking high grade stainless hasps that tested well for the application. Materials were selected based on the enviroment that the units would live in which was extreme cold, constant salt water, sun and weather exposure as well as minimal exterior wear use.
